Always a Voice
ABOUT US:
π» Always A Voice is a vibrant resource of encouragement and support for survivors of abuse and trauma. The mission of this website is to help you embrace your worth as you continue to find your voice, your power, your path, your faith, your joy and your rebirth. We support survivors in every stage of healing through: Awareness/Education, Empowerment, Mentorship, Art/Music Therapy and Local/Web-based Support Groups.
π»For individuals who have survived sexual abuse, the scars can be lasting and profound. All survivors need the opportunity and control to heal in their own time, at their own pace, and on their own terms. An essential part of the healing process for some survivors is the ability to seek justice and prevent the potential for abuse against others by prosecuting those who commit these horrendous crimes.
Currently, the statutes of limitations for crimes of domestic violence, sexual abuse and child abuse vary widely from state to state, often falling short to provide protection for those dealing with the devastating effects of these crimes. Abuse and violence is often committed against the most vulnerable--children--by those in relationships of trust, thus making it extraordinarily difficult for victims/survivors to come forward and/or seek help.
According to the National Center for Victims of Crime, only 10% of children who have suffered sexual abuse were violated by a "stranger".
THE STATISTICS ARE OVERWHELMING:
- One in four girls and one in six boys is sexually abused before the age of 18.
- An estimated 80% of all sexual abuse goes unreported.
- Sexually violent acts against children and adolescents cost $116 billion/year.

A Note from the Founder:
Welcome to Always a Voice! My name is Jill Short. I'm a survivor just like you. Daily I choose to make the decision to thrive and to embrace my victories. I've chosen to live abundantly...not in spite of my past, but because of it. I choose to overcome, to fight the good fight of faith, to walk in thankfulness, and to speak the truth, no matter what. I am not ashamed to stand up and do what I can, where I can! (Learn more about me Here.)
π»Your story isn't over! The pain you have endured does not define you. You define you. You may be cast down, but you are not forsaken. You are not alone. New choices arrive fresh on each of our doorsteps every morning. The rest of your life's story hasn't been written yet!
Blessings in Abundance,
~Jill
